What the work involves

Day to day

Teaching children with disabilities or learning differences - assessing needs, adapting curriculum and materials, working one to one or in small groups, and supporting inclusion in mainstream classrooms.

02

Who this suits

Fit

Exceptionally patient teachers who take satisfaction in incremental progress. Inclusive education requirements have increased demand, trained special educators are in genuine shortage, and the work is among the most needed in Indian education.

03

The honest reality

Read this one

The qualification must be Rehabilitation Council of India recognised - verify approval before enrolling, since unrecognised courses are marketed aggressively. Schools often appoint one special educator for far more children than one person can serve, and treat inclusion as a formality. Parents may resist assessment or expect faster progress than is possible. Pay does not reflect the specialised training, and the emotional demands are heavy.
