Who this suits
Fit
People who can listen without rushing, hold difficult material without absorbing it, and stay steady with patients who may be distressed or hostile. Demand across India is far greater than supply, and stigma is slowly reducing.
The honest reality
Read this one
Progress is slow and relapse is common, which is hard if you want visible results. Stigma still affects the speciality itself, and families sometimes discourage it. The emotional load is real and psychiatrists need their own support structures. Rural infrastructure for mental health remains thin.
