How to start
Preparation
Start with one or two students from people you already know, at a low fee, and teach them well. Ask for names. Almost all tuition work comes by word of mouth from parents talking to other parents, so the first results matter more than any advertising. Once there is a waiting list, raise the fee with new students rather than existing ones.

It rarely fails outright; it plateaus. Income is capped by the hours you personally have, and the ceiling arrives sooner than people expect. Growing past it means a batch, a space and eventually other teachers — which is a business, with rent and salaries, and not everyone wants that. It also collapses if your students' marks do not improve, because that is the only thing parents are actually buying.
