The employer base is narrow and concentrated in steel and mining towns rather than cities, so career moves usually mean relocating your whole life. Plant work means shifts, heat and industrial hazard. The branch is small enough that campus recruitment is thin at many colleges, and a lot of graduates end up switching to software or management. Public sector entry depends on examination cycles.
