01

What the work involves

Day to day

Making visual communication work - identity and logos, layout and typography, packaging, campaign and digital assets - within a brand system and to a brief.

02

Who this suits

Fit

Visually literate people who can take feedback without losing the idea. Every organisation needs design, entry depends on portfolio rather than pedigree, and freelance and agency routes are both viable.

03

The honest reality

Read this one

Generative tools have absorbed a large share of routine production work - social templates, simple layouts, stock-style imagery - and entry-level rates have fallen accordingly. What still commands money is strategic thinking: brand systems, typography judgement and knowing why a solution works. Clients in India frequently undervalue design and expect unlimited revisions. Unpaid speculative pitching is common and worth refusing.
