Equipment is expensive and the regulatory framework for drone operation and aerial spraying continues to evolve, which creates real business uncertainty. Service demand is seasonal and concentrated in a few weeks of spraying. Many operators have entered on subsidy and struggle to find enough paying work to cover the asset. The genuinely valuable skill is interpreting the data into an agronomic recommendation - flying the drone is the easy part and is becoming a commodity.
